Responsibilities:
Manufacturer of automotive parts seeks a Product Engineer Manager who is bilingual in English and Japanese. This position will design and develop products that meet internal & external customer specifications. May be involved in the launch of products designed and developed in Japan. RESPONSIBILITIES: (1) Work to design and develop products that meet customer specifications. This includes: · Act as a contact for the customer and work to establish a good relationship. · Handle negotiations on tooling schedule with the customer. · Organize model reviews for the customer. · Develop pre-launch parts for pattern tuning. · Part review-approval with the customer, to validate tooling integrity. · Establish supplier contacts. · Provide support for developing new suppliers. · Develop tooling schedule consistent with Product-to-Market cycle. · When changes are made to components, follow-up with drawing changes and be the main contact for suppliers. · Verify that all incoming tooling meets customer and requirements. · Design and develop all tooling for OE products. (2) Work with manufacturing and quality to assure that designed product can be manufactured with minimal downtime, minimal scrap and meet program launch date. (3) Work with APQP team, purchasing, and sales to assure that all advanced quality planning steps are taken prior to product launch and to assure that product meets all customer requirements. · Provide technical support to other departments. · Monitor and approve ECI changes. · Work to create/update documents including Tooling Standard, Components Standard and Data Sheets. · Assist Sales Department in developing customer quotations. · Maintain BOM and tooling inventory in company database. · Strive to maintain a safe and healthy work environment. Support safety, health and environmental commitments that the company makes. (4) Other duties as assigned.
