Responsibilities:
Manufacturer of industrial products seeks a Bilingual (Japanese) Automation Engineer.
(1) Learn to concurrently coordinate and oversee small well-defined production and automation control systems projects/assignments in the support of site operations. Including but not limited to participating in the selection of new control system equipment and instrumentation.
(2) Learn to specify, design and install manufacturing control systems in direct support of manufacturing operations. Learn to define manufacturing automation control systems requirements on capital projects including participating in the creation of appropriate documentation (Software Test Plans, Production Requirements, System Design Document)
(3) Learn to assist Sr. engineers in the troubleshooting and problem solving of manufacturing operations control systems/automation/instrumentation issues. Diagnose technical issues and provide recommendations/solutions for corrective actions. Learn to use programming software to configure and/or make modifications to automated systems and manufacturing control systems, following established quality control systems. Review changes and assure appropriate documentation (Software Test Plans, User Requirements, System Design Document) are developed and on file.
(4) Support the development of Preventive Maintenance Procedures for automation control systems including equipment repair and or replacement. Maintain a library for vendor application software, back-up custom software application, and required hardware needed for troubleshooting and maintenance. Perform routine back-ups or archived process data for permanent storage under QA Document.
(5) Provide basic technical assistance to site operating groups through investigations, automation system assessments, and design support.
(6) Learn quality control system for automotive products. (APQP, Control Plan, FMEA, PPAP, Etc.)
(7) Promote safety within the workplace by following site safety procedures.

Qualifications:
(1) BS in mechanical, electrical, or software engineering, MBA Preferred
(2) Fluent in Japanese (written a plus)
(3) Position requires technical, safety, and QA training.
(4) Strong organization, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
(5) Prioritizing multiple commitments and technical problem solving ability.
(6) Ability to shift priorities according to changes in department/facility needs and be open to different ideas/approaches.
(7) Hands on experience troubleshooting process controls equipment including PLCs, DCSs, HMIs, SCADA systems is a plus.
(8) Hands on experience with communication protocols including but not limited to RS-485, RS-232, Ethernet, and Data Highway Plus is a plus.
