JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Unemployment reporting and hearings
  • Disciplinary & Termination/Turnover reports
  • Discipline meetings/EE complaints/Termination notifications/Misc. meetings
  • Social event planning – internal and external – Leading Activities Committee
  • Vending & special catering services
  • Employee relations – questions / research. Policy admin. – Plant Walks
  • I-9, Visa & Immigration work w/ assistance of HR GM and Barnes & Thornburg
  • Employee File maintenance – Filing, separation, storage
  • Birthday, Anniversary and Children’s Birth & Marriage recognition
  • Document storage, recording and annual shredding project
  • Handbook maintenance with some Policy development and updating
  • Donations / Community Relations policy and budget administration including Angel Tree, United Way, habitat for Humanity, Relay for Life, etc.
  • Payroll / ADP – Time & Attendance, HRIS and J-sox back-up
  • Employee Assistance Program including second chance case management
  • Orientation Part II planning and presiding over sessions including stripe advancement
  • Uniforms and Locker, safety boots and safety eyewear programs
  • Housekeeping, lawn care and snow removal

 

 

This position will report directly to the Manager for Human Resources with a dotted line to the General Manager for Human resources.

 

 

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A High School diploma or equivalent GED is required. Post-secondary education including a Bachelor’s degree or higher is preferred, from a reputable school in business or an HR related field.  (Please see below for additional clarification.)
  • Must become knowledgeable about the offerings, exceptions, eligibility and other guidelines of NSPA benefit programs.
  • Must have a good computer aptitude along with some experience with Windows NT, e-mail, and the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Knowledge of an HRIS, payroll processing and time & attendance software such as ADP, people Soft, etc. is also important.
  • This position also requires a good working knowledge of and experience with labor laws including the FLSA, Civil Rights Act, Wage & Hour laws and specifically the ADA, FMLA, ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, Workers’ Comp., UI, etc.
  • A minimum of 3 years previous Human Resources and/or Employee Relations experience is needed.
  • This position requires a positive and professional demeanor to establish a strong rapport with the internal customer.
  • Must be detail oriented with thorough problem solving and investigative skills to resolve issues and provide the necessary follow-up to address Associate concerns and/or to avoid them.

§  Must have excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills.
