Responsibilities:
・Monthly Financial Reporting
- Review all journal entries created by the Accounting Clerk
- Review all supporting documents and reports, and verify the agree to the monthly financial reports
- Take QAD generated financials, and input data into the monthly financial reporting package for Japan. This in then reviewed with the executives
- Answer and follow up questions
・Annual Financial Audit
- Prepare the reporting package, and supplemental supporting data for the independent audit firm, to assist them with the annual audit & the 6 month audit
- Clear up any questions that the auditors may have on calculations, reports, bank verifications, customer confirms, and vendor confirms.
・Purchase Order Creation
- Print out and verify that all PO’s are correct, and the dollar amount is not extreme. If the dollar amount is extreme, verify with the President or V.P. that the items are needed. Example, make sure that we are getting the best price for items that can be purchased from multiple sources
・Cost Benefit Analysis
- Analyze cost associated with production, to see if the cost of production can be reduced by using less supplies, increasing productivity, reducing overtime, reducing the price paid for items.
・Initiate Cost Savings with Vendors
- Instituted bulk shipping supply purchase program, where YFB locks in a year’s amount of shipping supplies (totes, cardboard, paper, etc). By placing a bulk order, YFB gets a larger discount, and can eliminate price increases that normally would be incurred through the year as the market for shipping supplies goes up some amount every 4 – 6 months
・Main Person in all Insurance Renewals
- Main negotiator on an annual basis for health insurance, workers comp insurance, and liability insurance renewals.
- Work with the broker for our requirements, which is relayed to the insurance companies themselves. We wants to see a decrease in premiums, but realize a flat rate renewal is the best that can be expected since the cost insurance companies are passing cost of regulations on to their customers.
- If a renewal is not acceptable, we will instruct the brokers to shop the particular policy with other companies, to ensure that we get the best rates possible
・In charge of 401k and other benefits
- Ensure that our 401k company’s plans meet the best performance possible for our employees, while also ensuring that the cost of these plans is maintained at a very minimum amount
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
- 5-10 years in experience in manufacturing environment
- Working knowledge of QAD
- CPA with experience in cost accounting preferred
- Bilingual in English and Japanese preferred
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality
